Privacy Policy
Lynx connects parents with background-checked babysitters and youth trainers. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Lynx mobile app and website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Lynx LLC (“Lynx,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Lynx marketplace, mobile applications, and thelynxnetct.com (collectively, the “Service”). We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: name, email, phone number, password, profile photo, and (for providers) date of birth, address, and government-issued ID submitted for verification.
- Profile content: bio, service descriptions, availability, hourly rate, certifications, and photos you upload.
- Booking details:child’s first name and age range, location of the session, special instructions, and messages exchanged with providers.
- Payment information: processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full card number on our servers; we receive a tokenized reference and the last four digits.
- Support communications: emails and chat transcripts you send to our team.
Information collected automatically
- Device & usage data: device model, OS version, app version, IP address, crash logs, and feature interactions used to keep the Service stable and secure.
- Push notification tokens: issued by Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can deliver booking and message alerts.
- Approximate location: derived from your IP or (only with permission) device GPS to surface providers near you.
Information from third parties
- Sign-in providers: if you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and a unique identifier.
- Background-check vendor: for providers, we receive the pass/fail result and high-level category of any findings, never the underlying records.
3. How we use information
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Verify identities, run background checks for providers, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Process bookings and payments through Stripe.
- Send transactional messages (booking confirmations, messages, payment receipts) by push, email, or in-app.
- Respond to support requests and resolve disputes between parents and providers.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising inside Lynx.
4. Who we share information with
- Between parents and providers to enable the booking you initiated. Parents see provider profile information; providers see your first name, neighborhood, and the details you choose to share in a booking.
- Service providers we rely on:
- Stripe (payments)
- Firebase / Google Cloud (authentication, push, hosting)
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, push notifications)
- Our background-check provider for providers only
- Customer support tooling
- Legal & safety: we may disclose information if required by law, to protect a child, or to investigate fraud.
- Business transfers: if Lynx is acquired or reorganized, your information may transfer to the successor entity, subject to this policy.
5. Children
Lynx is intended for use by adults (18+). The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 13. Parents may include limited information about a child (first name and age range) in a booking request; that information is used only to coordinate the session and is shared only with the provider you book. If you believe a child has used Lynx directly, contact privacy@thelynxnetct.com and we will delete the account.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access & correction: view and edit your profile in the app, or request a copy of your data by emailing us.
- Deletion: delete your account in Settings or email privacy@thelynxnetct.com. We may retain limited records (e.g. transaction history) as required by law.
- Push notifications: manage in your device settings.
- Location: revoke at any time in your device settings.
- State privacy rights (US): residents of CA, CO, CT, VA, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of certain processing. We honor these requests for all US users.
7. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as long as needed to provide the Service. After you delete your account, we retain transactional records (bookings, payments) for up to seven years to meet tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations, and we delete or de-identify the rest within 90 days.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS), at-rest encryption for databases, scoped access controls, and routine security reviews. No system is perfectly secure; if we detect a breach involving your personal information, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable law.
9. International users
Lynx is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, you understand your information will be processed in the United States, which may have different data protection rules than your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new effective date at the top of this page, and material changes will be announced in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
